Klondike Solitaire
Klondike Solitaire brings classic one-card draw gameplay with flexible solutions. Plan each move carefully and see what happens when no useful moves remain.
Classic Solitaire – Draw One Card
Klondike Solitaire is truly engaging thanks to its impressive gameplay. The concept is simple: move all 52 cards into the four Foundation piles, arranging each suit in order from Ace to King. The "Draw One" format makes it easy to track the game, as you flip only one card at a time from the Stock pile—and you can cycle through the deck multiple times—allowing you to clearly identify available opportunities.

Game Layout
The game board consists of four main areas, each with a specific function:
- Tableau: This is where most of the action happens. Seven columns are dealt with different card counts, starting with one card in the first column and increasing to seven in the last. Only the uppermost card in each column is revealed initially.
- Stock: The undealt cards stay here and can be drawn when you need more options.
- Waste: Cards taken from the Stock move to this pile. You can only play the card currently sitting on top.
- Foundation: Four empty spaces are reserved for building each suit from Ace through King.
Arranging And Moving Cards
Cards in the Tableau must be arranged in descending order and alternating colors (red and black). Notably, only the color matters, not the specific suit. You can also move an entire valid sequence of cards at once. When a face-up card is moved from a column, the face-down card beneath it automatically flips over, providing a new card to continue play. Empty spaces in the Tableau are subject to a specific rule: only a King (K) or a sequence starting with a King can be placed there. This makes an empty column very useful, but you need to create one at the right moment.
Each Game Offers Different Choices
There is no single, fixed way to win at Klondike. As cards are revealed, you might have to weigh your options: flipping a face-down card, opening up a column on the Tableau, or moving a card to a Foundation pile. Since the Stock pile reveals cards one by one, you can track what is available and decide whether using a card now might limit your future moves. This balancing act is a key part of the game's appeal, keeping players coming back for more. The rules remain familiar, yet the decisions vary with every game.
When There Are No Moves Left
Sometimes, the current game state leaves you with no useful moves. In this version, the game clearly signals this situation with the message "We couldn't find any hints" and offers several options:
- Select "See how to win" to view the solution for the game. Use the "Find winning move" feature to identify the final move that keeps the game winnable.
- Choose "New Game" to start a fresh round.
- Continue playing if you wish to further analyze the current board.
This is a helpful feature, as getting stuck is part of the Klondike challenge; your current situation may depend heavily on choices made earlier.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to match the same suit on the Tableau?
No. Cards only need to alternate colors, regardless of suit. For example, a red 7 can be placed on any black 8.
How many cards do I draw from the Stock?
This version uses one-card draw, so only one card is revealed from the Stock at a time. The drawn card moves to the Waste and can be played when it fits.
Can I move a whole sequence at once?
Yes. If the cards form a valid descending sequence with alternating colors, you can move the group together to another Tableau column.
What can I put in an empty Tableau column?
Only a King or a valid sequence starting with a King can be moved into an empty Tableau space.
What happens when there are no useful moves left?
The game can show a “We couldn't find any hints” message and offer options such as seeing how to win, finding the last winnable move, starting a new game, or continuing to play.
